Artistic Director: Steve Weston

BACC-SteveWeston_2009Steve Weston, a native of Bangor, graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1992 with a Bachelor of Education in Music. After moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1993, he began graduate study in composition at New Mexico State University where he completed his Master of Music in Choral Conducting under Dr. Jerry Alt. During his time in New Mexico and Las Vegas, Nevada, he was a member of three different professional choirs, traveling and performing extensively throughout the United States and Europe. In 1997 he began his career as an educator in both public schools and churches, serving and fostering the musical needs of singers from ages eight to 80.
In 2006 Steve moved back to Bangor and became the Music Director at First Baptist Church, Bangor, where he is the organist and director of the Adult Choir and the Hand Bell Choir.

Accompanist: Amy Maier

BACC-AmyMeier_2009Amy Maier began piano lessons at age four while growing up in Bath, Maine. In 2004, she earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Maine at Orono. While at the University of Maine, she accompanied for various choral groups including the Old Town High School Chorus, the Black Bear Men’s Chorus and UMO’s Collegiate Chorale. Following graduation, she traveled to Glasgow, Scotland and attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) where she earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Piano Performance. During that year she had the privilege of accompanying the Craigclowan Children’s Choir on their concert tour to Aschaffenburg, Germany.

She has recently earned a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) where she studied with Dr. Paul Stewart, the past president of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). She has taught piano for eight years to students age four to adult. While in North Carolina, she was a teacher at Shadyside Studio and Moore Music Company. She spends every July teaching and accompanying at the Maine Summer Youth Music Camp. In addition to teaching, she performs and accompanies in the area. She currently resides in Bangor with her amazingly large cat, Big Head.
