The Bangor Area Children’s Choir is Seeking an Artistic Director
The mission of the Bangor Area Children’s Choir (BACC) is “Helping Youth Discover Their Voice.” Founded in 1992, BACC is a non-denominational choir that advances a challenging choral repertoire in a fun and safe learning environment for youth ages 9 through 18. The organization is looking forward to continuing into their 26th season, and is currently seeking an Artistic Director for their younger Treble Choir and more experienced Youth Chorale. Weekly rehearsals during the academic year are split between the two choirs for a total of three hours. BACC presents two formal concerts during their season, performs the Snowflake Chorus at the Nutcracker with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, plus other performances at various venues.
BACC seeks an Artistic Director who can work well with youth to help them gain confidence with a repertoire that is appealing, challenging, and safe for developing voices. The Artistic Director serves as a liaison with the community to advance the presence of BACC. In addition, the Artistic Director works closely with and is supported by the Board of Directors, comprised of volunteer parents and community members, to collaborate together in shaping and accomplishing the mission and vision of the organization.
Although the position begins on July 1, 2018, transitional involvement in the spring is essential to assure a strong start to the 2018-19 season. Average monthly hours range from 25 to 30 per month, but will vary depending on performance schedules and trips. The $7,000 to $9,000 compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
